Art Courses

Our home Bang Holm provides a framework for our activities.

My 100m2 big workshop is used for my classes.

Also is the garden room and glass house used in the old port for relaxation and rest breaks.

In my artcourses I take an individual participant assumptions supplemented by the experience and the experiences I have lived through in my own mirror image. As a participant requires no prerequisites.

Textile art / Appliqué
Any motif can be used. You start by painting on the materials/fabric you have brought with you, using fun and simple painting methods. You will then start on an explorative adventure into your painted fabric surfaces and find colour combinations that can be used in your picture work. I teach an extended form of appliqué technique, where fabric, tulle and thread/wool are applied layer by layer and sewed on using a sewing machine. As a teacher, I use the qualifications of each participant as the starting point of all my classes and I will pass on my experiences from my own artwork. It is thereby possible for beginners and experienced artists to participate in the same course.

Collage, fabric / Paper
As a creator of pictures it is important to get in behind the materials, build them up, experiment and break them down again over and over again, until you reach the story/centre of the picture. This method is the true characteristic of collage work. Various bits of fabric, paper and lots of other materials are glued to a canvas. The surfaces are then painted, making the most of the different structures. You can work with rough materials providing you with a relief work effect, or fine transparent surfaces, giving you the impression of seeing into the picture. As a teacher, I use the qualifications of each participant as the starting point of all my classes and I will pass on my experiences from my own artwork. It is thereby possible for beginners and experienced artists to participate in the same course.

The landscape of your face / Masque
In the world of imagery, the face is the strongest motif and symbol. It is alluring and touches everyone's hearts. We will consider and think about: Who are you? Where are you from? What have you experienced? Looking at somebody else's face also becomes a kind of confrontation with our own reflection.
On the course you will be working on your own face, hand in hand with the symbolism of the masque theme. Find or draw a mask/animal face that means something special to you, or holds a force/story that you need.
Look for types of masks in books with themes showing the meaning of masks from Greenland, Africa and the like. The mythology of the Indians is also interesting in this context. Bring a photograph of your own face - preferably from different angles. From the top of your head to your chin must be a whole A4 portrait size.
You start by painting on the materials/fabric you have brought with you, using textile paint, so that the painted surface matches the contours of your face and its colouring. Later your face will be fortified with a mask, symbolically providing you with extra strength and adding an enigmatic impact to your picture.
